I'm ready for my new family!

Birdie

I'm Available

Birdie is not your average cat. She's a 7-to-8-year-old all-black female with the kind of personality that takes a minute to earn, and once you do, she owns you completely.

Here's what you need to know about her: she eats off a tiny white dipping plate. Not a bowl, a plate. Specifically, a small Asian dipping sauce plate. We don't know why. We stopped asking.

She uses puppy pads instead of a litter box right now, a quirk born out of trauma, not stubbornness. More on that in a second. She spends her days under furniture, not because she's unhappy, but because the world has been a lot for this girl, and she's learned to be careful. She's not broken. She's wise.

Her story

Birdie spent years living with a man who loved her. When he passed away, his family put the cats outside. Just like that.

She survived on the streets alongside two other cats while a kind woman in the neighborhood quietly fed them and worked to bring them in safe. One of the three didn't make it, hit by a car. Birdie and one other female eventually made it to rescue.

We can only imagine what that stretch of time did to a cat who once had a home, a person, a bed. She remembers all of it. The good parts too, and that's exactly why, at the end of every single night, Birdie climbs up, tucks herself in right beside you, and sleeps like she never left.

She will absolutely love you, on her terms, in her time. And it will be worth every patient day you put in to get there.

She needs a quiet home. No other pets. Someone who gets that a cat who chirps like a bird, dines off a dipping plate, and naps under the couch is not a problem to fix, she's a whole personality to discover.

Birdie is not for everyone. She is absolutely for someone.

If that's you, she already knows how to find the warm spot on your side of the bed.

If you're in the Sun City or Surprise area and your house has been a little too quiet since you your pety passed, this is your sign. Birdie was made for a retired home. No kids running through, no dogs, no chaos. Just a calm, peaceful space where a woman (or a couple) who has the time can let her decompress and become exactly who she used to be. The rewards are endless when your love cures a broken soul. She will be on that couch with you in the evenings and tucked in beside you by night. She just needs someone who isn't in a hurry.
