Ember is a bright, affectionate young dog with a whole lot of personality packed into a compact package. She is social with people, loves attention, rolls over for belly rubs, and has been described as loving, cuddly, friendly, and wonderfully puppy-like. Once she is comfortable, Ember wants to be involved in whatever her people are doing.
She is also an energetic little athlete who loves to play. Squeaky stuffies are a favorite, she has enjoyed agility equipment, and she has been playful with the dogs she has met. Ember is smart and learns quickly; she already knows cues including sit, stay, off, place, look, leave it, and shake. She is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, although excitement can occasionally make her forget that walking is not supposed to be a race.
Ember’s biggest challenge is that her enthusiasm sometimes gets ahead of her manners. When she becomes overstimulated, she can get jumpy and mouthy and may air snap during particularly excited moments. She is also learning better skills around valuable food items. She has already shown that she can respond well to calm handling, redirection, treats, and clear expectations, so she is looking for people who will continue helping her practice impulse control rather than simply expecting her to know how to settle herself.
An experienced adult home with time for training, play, enrichment, and plenty of interaction would give Ember an excellent place to shine. She would be especially fun for someone who enjoys hiking, running, training games, or simply having a clever little sidekick who approaches life at full speed. Underneath all that energy is a very affectionate dog who loves her people and has an impressive amount of potential waiting for the right person to channel it.
