You may already know Teddy as the downtown Phoenix dog who spotted a jogger named Mike, decided he looked trustworthy, and simply followed him home. That chance encounter eventually led Teddy to the shelter, the Priority List, and eventually to Rescue Street. Now this handsome young guy is ready for the part of his story that ends with a home of his own.
At about a year and a half old, Teddy is playful, energetic, affectionate, and full of personality. He loves having something to do, whether that means heading out for a walk, exploring his surroundings, playing with his favorite toys, or just spending time with his people. He has plenty of youthful enthusiasm, but he also knows how to settle and relax when the excitement is over.
Teddy made a great first impression outside the shelter. He was comfortable riding in the car, walked on leash, relaxed nicely in a crate, and took treats gently from hand.
And then there are the toys.
Teddy is a BIG fan. Balls, squeakers, and stuffed toys are some of his favorite things in the world, and his excitement can sometimes get ahead of his manners. He’ll do best with someone who enjoys interactive play and is willing to keep working with him on trading, sharing and keeping those games fun and structured. With an enthusiastic young dog like Teddy, those training sessions can easily become part of the fun.
For all his playful energy, Teddy has a wonderfully affectionate side. He seeks out his people, leans into petting and is not shy about getting close when he wants some love. He forms meaningful connections with the people he trusts, and anyone who followed his original story probably remembers the reunion with the jogger Teddy had chosen weeks earlier: the tail thumping, enormous smile, and full-body dog hug made it pretty clear Teddy had not forgotten his friend.
That friend is now helping Teddy along as his foster dad while Teddy searches for a permanent home with a little more room to stretch his legs, play and enjoy being the active young dog he is.
Teddy has already proven that he knows how to recognize a good human when he sees one.
Maybe this time, that person is you.
